Wow! What a fun night! We never expected it to work out so well. We really feel so loved! So we have been struggling with our consignment for quite some time, we love how busy we are but feel it's unfair to have the 3 week "line-up" that has been happening.
We really want it to be easy to drop items by as we realize it is tough being a parent to make appointments. However we are having to go this route.
So the all the original terms will remain the same except we are now accepting appointments.
Give us a call and you will be given a Day to bring your items in not a Time to arrive just the appropriate day. I think this will really work well for everyone as we are going to strive to get your items on the floor the day you bring them in!
We are also no longer accepting Carsets or Cribs.

Everything else will remain the same as we strive for low prices and great service!

They are here!! And they are so very beautiful. We have the new G2 version with snaps. These diapers come with a very thirsty 6R microfiber insert that snaps apart to 2 inserts. making it a great fit for newborns...yes newborns! This diaper is a one-size diaper with 4 rise settings. So thats 6-35lbs!
I think my favorite part is the inner gussets! You have to come check them out.
I think all you Swaddlebees lovers are going to go crazy over these and at a great price of $28. Oh did I mention how trim these are?! Love them!

All colour dyes, high grade biological oils and glues used for they products fulfil the European Standards EN 71 for toy safety as well as the new CPSIA requirements concerning contents of lead and phthalates and are absolutely harmless to your children’s health.

This company uses mainly alder, lime, maple and cherry wood. Wood is natural and regenerative and stimulates the senses. It has texture, it is sometimes light, sometimes dark, it is hard or it is soft. It is rough or smooth and smells good. It sounds different, it is heavy or it is light. It has its own temperature. Diaper Duty

A little intro to what the washing is all about....

Pretty simple, actually the easiest step in cloth diapering.

The key is have the right tools, we recommed a really great product made by
Jamtots down in Victoria.
The Pail liner/Wetbag.

This bag is used to store your soiled diapers in, when it's washing day simply toss diapers into the machine flip wetbag inside out and wash it and dry it with your
diapers. It's completely waterproof and durable!
Nature is a beautiful thing when it comes to diapers, if your exclusivly breastfeeding no need to rinse diapers as breastmilk poop is water soluable.
If there is any staining hang on the line or lay in a sunny window, the sun will do all the bleaching for you for free!
Simply turn your washer to its hot cycle add a smaller amount of detergent(we have great lists of appropriate ones)Wash then Dry. If diapers are very soiled then an extra soak or pre-rinse cycle may be needed.

So simple. Your already doing crazy amounts of laundry, what's one more load?

Blueberry Diapers have arrived! We have a very small supply as these are
hard to get ahold of, but do not fret, we are re-ordering asap.
Blueberry's are a great one-size pocket diaper with snaps, fleece inner
and a microfiber/hemp insert. They are a workhorse diaper and our spring colors are super cute!

Applecheeks will be here tomorrow! We have Hemp and Bamboo inserts with them. These ultra trim sized pocket diapers are the in house favorite!

We have had great response to our new line Dolly n' Boo. We are carrying their reversible dresses and handbags to match. We have already had to reorder and they have only been on the wall for 1 day! We are also getting in some headbands.

The last diaper Kris and I have been testing is fully a winner! But there is a bit of a wait to order them as they are uber popular so hopefully we will get word soon.
I will keep you updated.

Time For An Update

I'm a little bit too excited here, I'm afraid I might spill the beans on some very VERY cool diapers we have coming...so I'm not going to...not yet anyways.
So an update instead ;)

Spring is on its way, so we are now accepting Spring Items on Consignment. Which includes, rain gear, rain boots, rain hats....
Well and cute Easter dresses lighter clothing and springish attire.

BumGenius Organic Cotton prefolds have arrived. These are being sold in packs of 6 in a cute little cloth bag. That being said we now stock Snappi's in the Toddler size 2.

We are fully stocked up in the popular Bio-Soft liners by Bummis in small and large sizes.

Just received word from the post, and AppleCheeks diapers will be in on March 4th!
These are proving to be a favorite diaper of ours. So super trim. We are stocking the Hemp and Bamboo inserts to go with.

Sewfunky Ring Slings will be fully stocked(again)this week. And we are working with a very savvy mom on the ways of baby carrying, we will be hosting her baby wearing/carrying workshop. Stay tunned for the details.

Did I mention all the cool diapers we are testing.....

And we are testing some great local laundry detergents. We are hoping to reccommend something other than the Country Save at London Drugs...we really like to support local and earth friendly, so stay tunned for all our reviews!

AppleCheeks! A true breakthrough in reusable diapering. Similar to a 2 in one diaper, you can use the AppleCheeks envelope cover as a cover with a soft hemp or bamboo insert placed on top, as this cover snuggly holds the insert in place.

You can also use this envelope cover as a pocket system by inserting the insert inside the opening of the envelope cover.
Complete with snaps. and truly the timmest fit. As close as a disposible fit as you can get.
These guys make the softest bamboo inserts we have tried and they truly do a great job!

Wool Dryer Balls! Yup, a great eco-friendly alternative to the traditional PVC dryer balls.

These wool dryer balls, are handmade by a very talented local Momma, after her search for

something similar turned up not existent locally and too expensive to ship.

So here we have them at Little Me. We are so excited about these balls, they are great for drying cloth diapers, reducing drying time up to 20 minutes! And no more static, for diapers or laundry. You can just use 1 Ball or as many as you like.

We all know the potential hazards when using PVC related products, so Go Green and Go Wool!

"Grab Your Bag" is the final phase of the Comox Valley Chamber of Commerce campaign to dramatically reduce single use plastic bags in the Comox Valley. You can get the coveted Eco-Bag at Little Me for only $1.

The Comox Valley Chamber of Commerce wants to see business and citizens working together to dramatically reduce plastic bag use in the Comox Valley.We want to show what is possible when a critical mass of shoppers start buying and using re-usable bags - and remembering to bring them back to the store. If we reduce our use by 50-80% we will make a huge difference! Even if we take our meats and frozen items in plastic and all our dried goods/fruit and veggies in reusable bags will achieve a significant reduction.

The Eco-Bag is made from recycled plastic single use bags.

These will be available Tuesday Feb 10th!

We are starting a new article, every week we will tell you a little bit about some of the
products we carry and the company's they come from.

SewFunky Ontario's Tanja Mackenzie is a momma of 4 and the creator of SewFunky. She has been sewing her amazing creations for 15 years, they can be be found all across the globe. She is the maker of our beautiful Ring Slings and Organic Bamboo Panda Wraps. Tanja has become a great friend and very wise in the ways of Babywearing, homeschooling and cloth diapering. Kristina and I searched high and low for the best made slings and wraps and we were led to Tanja.
I am a huge lover of the Ring Sling, come by the store and you'll see little Maile snuggled to me.
I find it easy to use, fits in your bag, easy to wash and versitle. The sling can be used from birth until over 40lbs. My toddler loved the "supported piggy back" position well past age 2. For Maile my favorite carry is on the hip. That way baby can interact with me as well as the outside world. The extra long stylish "tail" makes a great cover for sun/rain and nursing privacy.
My favorite perk is the ease of use, it literally takes me 2 seconds to get Maile in the sling and we are on our way into the grocery store. No buckles no adjusting no thinking about which coat to wear so my carrier fits. The quality in Tanja's work is 2nd to none as all pieces are handmade and most fabrics are certified organic! Tanja can also make a matching toddler sling to carry around a baby just like mom ;)

Thanks everyone for a great Holiday Season! Now it's back to the grind... Our diaper workshop

is still set for Jan 12 at 6pm. This class is full but if you have pre-registered then you will be getting a reminder email a few days before.

We have some great new diaper products coming in, Diaper Odor remover, Bamboo wipes, Organic prefolds, and some locally made spray on "wipes" solution. We have also put in a huge Jamtots order to get those so popular Large Wet/laundry bags, we have a hard time keeping those in store, so if you are waiting they are coming this week.

Ta-Da!!! Happy Heiny's One-Size Snaps! And my first impression is how trim these are. They did a great job with the Aplix/Velcro version, but snaps make laundry duty so much better.

Don't get me wrong velcro definitly has it's place(when toddlers are running mid diaper change)

But I am a snap lover. The new colors and prints are so cute too. It still comes with 2 great microfiber inserts! All bundled up for only $24!

We have been on the hunt for an insurance company that would allow us to sell
carseats and at last we have found one! So we officially can sell used carseats.
Bring them on in we just ask that the expiration date is still valid, the seat is in perfect
working condition, no twisted straps and all pieces and the manual is included.
The carseat must not have been recalled nor ever been in an accident, and is also very clean.
We will be checking for recalls and all the specs.
If we get overwhelmed with the amount we are getting in we may take names down for a waitlist as most of you know our storage space is limited.

Play is an important factor in all areas of child development – physical, social, emotional and cognitive. It is increasingly noted that children today seem to be losing their ability to play. Children want to be entertained and can’t seem to play on their own. And children who do play are acting out scenes they’ve seen on television and in movies, not playing out of their own imaginations.

What can parents do? By selecting suitable toys that can cultivate creative thinking and respects children’s need for actively involved creative play. Simple, open-ended, multi-purpose toys are the key. Toys that are not completely detailed allow children to use their imaginations. Those that allow children to decide how to play with it encourage creativity.
Toys that can be turned into many things facilitate abstract thinking. For example, Cloths and silks can be turned into capes, aprons and rivers. Dolls with simple features allow the child to decide if the baby is laughing, crying or sleeping.

We have Bum Genius 3.0 One Size! Finally...they were backordered, but we are now
fully stocked. Bum Genius also has great new colors that will be available to us in a few weeks, new colors are always exciting!

Renovations...we having be planning for quite some time now to try and find some extra space, as we are above our maximum capacity for consignment. We actually are not able to accept anymore at this time. Full to the Brim. So our renovations are still in the early planning phase but hopefully we can get started in the next few weeks. We will still take your, winter boots, jackets and fleece. Toys games and books. Furniture and Halloween costumes. Pretty much just saying no to clothing. Hopefully we can get on top of things in the next few weeks!

Thanks everyone who attended the diaper workshop last Monday. There are alot of really great Moms and Dads in the Valley! It was a great night, thanks again.

BC Wildlife almost forgotten

A few weeks ago we realized my daughter didn't know what a Marmot was. Hmmm and the marmot is a very important animal to our province. We then realized she didn't know much about the wildlife in BC. She know's all about Zebra's and Hippo's, Panda's and Parrots, but you ask her what a Wolverine is and, no clue, to be honest neither did I!
So when we were contacted by Kermode kids it made sence to carry the first of their great products to come.
The Go Fish, British Columbia Wildlife addition, is beautiful, descriptive and real.
My little one is right into games right now so we are playing this a few times a day.

These chic diapers are a must have for any diaper stash! The outer shells are a plush layer of Minkee fabric with an inner layer of coordinating pul. There is a snap in soaker that is bamboo topped with a layer of white Minkee. Extra Bamboo inserts are sold separately so you can change for a new one when soiled and continue using the cover. Truly the best of both worlds.

Minkee fabric is SO soft that you will find it hard to resist touching it! It is definitely addictive!!

Offering FREE comprehensive cloth diapering seminars to local parents with new babies has made their new venture retooling Little Me Consignment into an eco-friendly one-stop baby shop an instant success
Sherry Turnbull, 29, and Kristina Jespersen, 33, took over Little Me at #105-2270 Cliffe Ave in June after long-time owner Dana Watson sold the business to spend more time with her family.
While the consignment portion of the business hasn't changed, Turnbull and Jespersen have empowered parents to think both green and local through the diapers and other new products offered.
They are busy building community and supporting family businesses by carrying a wide range of toys and baby gear in their Made by Mommas section (all Canadian) as well as bringing in the hottest green baby and toddler products including Haba Toys, Barefoot Books, WestCoastBaby and Veggie Shoes, keep things affordable with minimal markups.

Sugar Peas Organic Hemp and Fleece 2 Size Fitted Diapers. Great for night times without the bulk. Not only for nightimes however, they are a great all round diaper, they are just very absorbant which is great for long nights. They have a fold out built in soaker for faster drying time.

Yes Full, we have TONNES of stuff! We have 3 Bassinettes in stock, a wagon, A Brio Train Table, 2 toy cars, 2 excersaucers, a zooper stroller, and like 50 swings! Well maybe 6 but still that's alot. Everyday we are getting in baskets and baskets of fall arrivals. We also continue to have our great sales. All blue tags 50%off and White tags are 25%off.

For the new items, our large order of Barefoot books came in as well as some puzzles and cds.
These books truly are beautiful and I really enjoy reading them and admiring the beautiful artwork.

Our diapers are stocked up again, we have full amounts of Happy Heiny's, Swaddlebees, Kanga's and Fuzzi Bunz. We always have a large supply of Prefolds and Bummis covers as well. Soon to come Bamboo fitted diapers! A great nighttime diapering solution and they are so silky soft.

We have brought in some great Organic Cotton Velour washable breastpads by Swaddlebees they are $5 a pair. We have had alot of Mom's looking for these! If there is any product you
would like to see available, let us know we are always open to new ideas.

It's also that time of year to get ready for Fall...boohoo! summer is ending. But it means you get to start filling your closet with warm cozy sweaters and bring out the gumboots. It means that Little Me has new fall stock arriving daily as well as great sales on all the summer stock!

We also have quite the collection of Halloween Costumes piling up in the back almost ready to come out, seriously Halloween is only 2 and a half months away!

Holy Diaper Craze!

Ok so first off thanks to everyone that came out to the first diaper workshop! For anyone that didn't make it out, or didn't get the phone call, we will be re-calling and having our 2nd workshop at the beginning of September. The funny thing is we had our workshop, without any diapers! We completley sold out! The last few weeks has been incredible, so Kristina and I have ordered a million and we should be fully stocked up in less than 2 weeks, we have coming;
Fuzzi Buns, Bum Genius One-Size 3.0, Swaddlebees Eco-nappi, Happy Heiny's, Baby Kanga's,
And we are looking into the very well loved Mother-ease, made in Canada! We will also be fully stocked on all our favourite wet bags and accesories from Jamtots, including washable breastpads, fleece and wool diaper covers! As you can tell we are pretty excited, thanks again to everyone for the support!

Swings Swings and more Swings..

Yup, we have alot of baby swings in, basic swings, travel-folding swings,
and the deluxe Ocean Wonders Swing. These items sell really fast so if you were
looking for one get on down fast!
We also have a beautiful Bassinet that is also a portable moses basket, oh and
a Zooper! It's in great shape and more than half the retail price.

For the new stuff, our SwaddleBees newborn fitted diapers have arrived. They
really are the sweetest newborn diaper, my little Maile looks cute in her pink one!

We also have in a bunch of diaper doublers and inserts, in a variety
of fabrics.

We are almost sold out of our wet bags and laundry bags, but no fear we have placed
a huge order and they should be here anyday.

Oh I also wanted to say we have in a big lot of Motherease fitted diapers and covers
on consignment, these are a favorite by some moms and are a good score on the used
front ;)

Now Accepting Fall Consignments

We are now taking fall type clothing. Longsleeved shirts, light sweaters and jackets.
We always accept toys and books too. Some highlights we have in store for consignment are;
A beautiful wooden highchair, children's outdoor swing, 4 different potty's, including a fold up travel potty seat, we also have a travel bassinet, and various bouncy seats for infants.

Our first barefoot books order arrived today, they are beautiful! One of our favourite lines of books. We also got in a bunch of consignment books to choose from as well.

1 month today! We can say we are very happy with the way things are going. We

have a pretty full store, everyday we are getting lots of great consignment items in.
And we are getting lots of great new items in as well.

These diapers will require a cover but it still makes for an economical diaper method as you can Consign them back to us!!! No really they are great diapers, we expect this shipment to arrive just in time for our first diaper workshop at the end of July.

Exciting News at Little Me!

Happy Canada Day! This holiday we welcomed the newest addition to our family

at Little Me, Sherry had a baby girl, born a few hours before the fireworks,

Maile Jay Wesner weighing in at 8lbs 6oz. Everyones happy and healthy.

Come on into the store you may catch a glimpse however Mommy, Avery and

Maile will be taking some time off, so Kristina and Gavyn will be holding the fort

down.

For store news; We have TONNES of beautiful maternity clothes in, from brands

like Thyme, Motherhood and various high end. To suggest a few we have

beautiful casual dresses as well as formal wear, jean jackets, petty coats, swimsuits

and more.

We also have 2 great cribs in the back room, an Amby bed which is a baby hammock,a few cool strollers to choose from and tonnes of clothes! The greatest thing about buying consignment is it leaves less of a footprint on the earth. So much of our society is about consuming. With consignment you also get to find those unique items that are not normally available in the valley.

Gift Certificates!! Yup we have them! With all our new stock arriving daily and the

great like new consignment a gift certificate is the perfect shower gift. Available in

any denomination.

Diaper workshop; Is now full, thanks for all the overwhelming response. We are still

taking names for our August workshop. We are still working on the first July date, as

we are waiting for our last shipment of newborn fitted diapers. Hopeully they will arrive in 2 weeks time so we are aiming for an end of July date. Stay tunned into the blog for updates.
